The character of Mae Darwin was introduced in Star Trek: Into Darkness, as the navigator who replaces Chekov when the latter was promoted to Chief Engineer after Scotty resigned.
The Basics
Like most of the rest of the Shakedown Crew, Darwin hasn’t been available in the game for quite some time, likely due to her broken officer ability. She’s an engineering officer.
Captain’s Maneuver
Defending Power – When the ship is attacked by a player, Darwin increases the Weapon Damage by 10%. (PvP)
Officer Ability
Darwin’s officer ability is Interceptor Trainer – Darwin increases the Ship Experience gained on Interceptors by 20%. It does not work. It’s a shame too, because I can see her being great to pair with Pike and Moreau to level up build-and-scrap Phindras. Of course, Pike’s Officer Ability is also broken, but a man can dream, can’t he?
Trivia
Mae Darwin was portrayed by Aisha Hinds.
She made her television debut in a 2003 episode of Blues Clues, Blue Goes to School, as “Joe’s Friend.” I’ve always preferred Steve to Joe, and my son and I have a long-running debate over who’s a better host. My son is wrong.
Hinds then made the rounds of 2000s hour-long dramas, appearing on NYPD Blue, ER, The Shield, Crossing Jordan, Boston Legal (with you know who), CSI: NY, Lost, Bones, and Law & Order: SVU, just to name a few.
More recently, she’s appeared in 9-1-1, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., Shots Fired, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Under the Dome, Cult, and as Harriet Tubman in Underground.
