One of the more forgettable ships in Star Trek Fleet Command is the Orion Corvette. It’s the second ship you’ll build after the Realta, and unlike it’s older brother, it’s not fast. It’s not fun. It’s nothing to look at. Just a bit of a blob.
What the Orion Corvette is Good At
It is your first battleship, and so you’ll use it for completing early game missions, killing hostiles, and very early PvP. The Corvette’s ship ability is a bonus to the ship’s maximum hull health, this starts out at a 10, and maxes out at level 20 at 110.
It is cheap to build and cheap to repair.
How Long Will You Use the Orion Corvette?
With any luck, not long at all.
What About as Build and Scrap?
Sure. If you can grind out additional blueprints for another one, absolutely build it. I would wait until you’ve built your scrapyard at level 20 to do so. But I wouldn’t spend any time grinding for the purpose of finding Corvette blueprints. They don’t drop very often.
You’ll get some 2* materials from scrapping it, and you’ll have burned nothing but 1* battleship parts in the process.
And you’ll get rid of the Orion Corvette with much, much less emotion that some people have when they decide to sell their ‘Vette.
Background
Numerous Orion ships have appeared in various incarnations of Star Trek. Harrad-Sar’s barge from “Bound” in Star Trek: Enterprise is the closest looking one to the Orion Corvette.
In my opinion, all of the other Orion ships to appear are more interesting. The Orion Interceptors from “Augment,” the bright red and yellow thing from The Animated Series, and even the Orion Scout Ship from TOS are all more appealing.
A Corvette does show up in Star Trek Online. It’s a little better looking in that game.
