Raphael DuPont is a rare engineering officer in the Surveyors and Miners crew in Star Trek Fleet Command. Think of DuPont as a more versatile T’Pring. Don’t let his appearance fool you, he’s not in Section 31.

Officially, Section 31 doesn’t exist. Of course, for the game, this just matters for the purposes of synergy.

In order to fully max him out, you’ll need 16,500 Federation Credits and 3 engineering badges

Captain’s Maneuver

Grade III Miner – Raphael DuPont increases the rate of G3 Crystal, Gas and Ore Mining by 40%

So think of DuPont as a second G3 miner here. If you’re looking to mine a lot of one raw material, this lets you crew a second ship. He will give you almost as good a bonus as Stonn, T’Pring or Barot – just 5% less. But that’s nothing to sneeze at.

Officer Ability

50%, 100%, 150%, 200%, 300% to the ship’s protected cargo

Again, you can never have enough protected cargo, so DuPont is going to greatly increase the amount you can mine without going over. If you were looking to put out a miner overnight (at your own risk,) or while the day while you’re working and had T’Pring, DuPont, and Joaquin (or One of Ten) as your crew, you could massively increase your protected cargo.

For example, here’s my Antares without them.

So now I’ve added Jaoquin as captain, and T’Pring, and you can see that my protected cargo more than doubles.

So then I put Joaquin as captain, with DuPont and T’Pring on there. Now keep in mind that my DuPont hasn’t been promoted yet. He’s only giving me a 50% boost. So it’s only a 10k boost to protected cargo… for now. So as this gets promoted up to 300%, you’re going to have ships that will go all day without going OP.

Raphael DuPont Trivia

Okay… I got nothing.

The rumor is that he’s a character in the Kelvin comics, like T’Laan, Chen, etc., but I haven’t read the comic books, and I can’t find anything about him on Memory Beta. I looked everywhere I could think of.

The only “DuPont” character I could find is from a TNG comic, and as far as I can tell, he’s got nothing at all to do with Section 31.

My Google search for Raphael DuPont and Star Trek turned up nothing relevant. It did get me an obituary for a man from Indiana, who certainly seemed to have had a great life. His obituary says that he was married to his wife Vivian for 77 years. He had 7 children, 25 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, 14 step-great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

“He enjoyed playing euchre, listening to blue grass music, dancing, and most of all, having family gatherings.”

So if I can’t find any Trek connection, I’m going to go with the late Mr. DuPont, from Indiana. That’s good enough for me.
