Cadet Scotty is, fittingly, one of the most functional officers in the early stages of Star Trek Fleet Command, and he’s an officer that you’re going to use for a long, long time. He’s a common engineering officer in the Another Time crew.

Getting Cadet Scotty

There’s really only one way to get Cadet Scotty, open as many standard recruiting packs as you can.

He won’t cost you any officer badges to upgrade. You’ll just need 135 Cadet Scotty shards, 1,000 Federation Credits, and 155,500 experience points to fully upgrade him.

Captain’s Maneuver

Sturdy Ship – Increases Ship Hull Health by 10%.

Not a bad maneuver for a common officer, but nothing to write home about either. Increasing it with synergy can get this up to 20%. This could help you against some mission bosses or in basic PvP.

Cadet Scotty Officer Ability

Warp Theory – Increases the Warp Distance of the ship by (1, 2, 3. 4, 5)

It’s useful for players at all levels to complete missions, do mining, or reaching hostiles. It’s useful to get your Discovery to the level 28 Mycelium systems.

This is one ability that never really goes out of use. At level 38, I use Scotty to get my Antares to deep gas mining systems like Cor Caroli, Archer, or Riktor. Those systems are just never crowded.

The one thing it’s not useful for it getting your D’Vor to the super-fast Warp 40 system of Suliban before you get to tier 8 warp engines, as they go from 34 to 40. But it’s still helpful in getting to some of the faster systems.

Also keep in mind that this ability isn’t helped by Pike. The display will show you that it is, but it doesn’t actually allow you to get there. Sorry.

Simon Pegg Trivia

Simon Pegg was born on Valentine’s Day, 1970 in  Brockworth, Gloucestershire, England.

He got his start on British television, on shows like AsylumFaith in the FutureBig Train and Hippies.  He’s probably best known for his work as star and co-writer in Shaun of the Dead.

Pegg is one of the few Trek regular to have appeared on Doctor Who.

A couple of other notables include Nana Visitor (Major Kira from Deep Space Nine) and John DeLancie (Q), both of whom made appearances on Torchwood.

He’s also in a much smaller group to have in Star Trek, Doctor Who, AND Star Wars, having played Unkar Platt in The Force Awakens. Here’s a pretty cool deleted scene, where Chewbacca rips his arm off.

Pegg also appeared in the incredible Band of Brothers, as William Evans. Also appearing in Band of Brothers were fellow Trek actors Tom Hardy (Shinzon from Nemesis) and Neal McDonough (Lt. Hawk from First Contact.)
