Cadet Uhura Captain’s Ability

Scan the Enemy – Decreases the Weapon Damage of the opponent’s ship by 10%.

With synergy, you can pop this up to 20%. And in the early game, this will be pretty good for PvP, or hostiles. But where you’ll really get the most use out of her is on your Franklin, when going after Swarms.

Officer Ability

Negotiations – Increases the Shield Health of the ship by (5% 7% 9% 11% 14%)

So, Instructor Spock and T’Laan, this should be your first Swarm hunting crew, until you get Pike and Moreau.

Basic Franklin theory – the ship itself does a massive amount of damage to swarm, due to it’s ship ability. This bonus starts off at 5,000% and tops out at 60,000% at level 45. And with the Franklin-specific tech, this can go up significantly.

So officers aren’t going to make a huge impact on the damage you’re doing – so your focus should be on defense. So Uhura’s reduction to your opponent’s damage, T’Laan’s reduction to kinetic weapon damage, and Instructor Spock’s damage mitigation bonuses make for a good secondary swarm crew.

Zoë Saldana Trivia

Zoë Saldana was born Zoë Yadira Zaldaña Nazario in New Jersey in 1978. She grew up in Queens, New York, the daughter of immigrants from the Dominican Republic.

Her father was killed in a car accident when she was nine, and her mother moved the family back to the Dominican Republic. While there she took ballet lessons. Upon returning to the United States, she joined the Faces Theater Program in Brooklyn.

Her first screen acting job came in 1999, making a pair of appearances on Law and Order. Her film debut came in the 2000 teen drama Center Stage.

In 2002, she appeared in the Britney Spears movie, Crossroads. A movie so good that it was featured on How Did This Get Made?

Later that year, she appeared in Drumline. Next, she played Anamaria in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

It was while filming Avatar in 2008 that Saldana was offered the role of Uhura. It was because of her commitment to shooting Avatar that she considered turning down the role. It was Avatar director James Cameron that convinced her to take the role.

“I was working on Avatar and even Jim [Cameron] was saying, “You’re kidding me? You’re not going to do Star Trek?! Give me J.J.’s number, and I’ll call him.” He invited J.J. over to the set, and just to see these two directors having a sci fi conversation…. I think I would charge people.”
