Instructor Spock is an common science officer in the Another Time crew.

He’s an officer that you’ll find a lot of use for in the lower levels, but one that you’ll rarely use as you get deeper into the game. But early in the game, you’ll use him for both attacking mission bosses, and swarm as a member of the versatile Another Time crew.

Captain’s Maneuver

Knowledgeable – Increases the Weapon Damage of the ship by 5%.

For early in the game, this isn’t a terrible captain’s maneuver, but it does suffer by comparison to Cadet Kirk‘s. With synergy, you can get this damage up to 15%, but it’s just not as effective as using Kirk.

Instructor Spock Officer Ability

Kobayashi Maru – Increases the Shield Deflection, Armor, and Dodge of the ship by (5% 8% 12% 15% 20%).

For early in the game, this is a pretty good officer ability. In longer battles, the defense is key. The rub is that early in the game, most of your battles are going to be pretty short. But still, when you’re grinding out a lot of hostiles, the less damage you take, the more you’ll be able to destroy.

He’s good to mix with Cadet Kirk as your captain and his captain’s maneuver giving you increased officer stats, and Cadet Uhura for synergy (or Cadet McCoy for his ability boost)

It’s also good later on for an early swarm crew if you don’t yet have Pike or Moreau. Put Cadet Uhura as your captain, and Instructor Spock and T’Laan as the other officers for a really good damage reduction crew.

It’s also not a bad secondary hostile fighting crew if your PMC crew is being used elsewhere. You can also use this as a hostile fighting crew against interceptors.

Instructor Spock was one of the first officers that I maxed out, and this also made him very useful as a below decks officer with just about any combination you could think of.

Zachary Quinto Trivia

I’ll be going over Leonard Nimoy’s remarkable background in my article on the Rare Spock officer.

Zachary Quinto was born in Pittsburgh in 1977. He started acting in high school and attended the School of Drama at Carnegie Mellon University.

He made his first television appearance in 2000 in The Others. He also had guest roles on  CSITouched by an AngelCharmedSix Feet UnderLizzie McGuire, and L.A. Dragnet.

He had a recurring role on 24, and was a regular on Heroes before being cast as Spock for the 2009 JJ Abrams film. Quinto was the first actor cast for the reboot films.

Leonard Nimoy approved of Quinto, and the two got along well. They made a pretty funny commercial together.

Enjoy.
