Unnamed in her only Star Trek appearance, Liviana Charvanek has the distinction of being the first female captain to appear onscreen in Star Trek.
The Basics
Liviana Charvanek only recently earned her command, but has distinguished herself as a clever and ruthless strategist, and a true daughter of Romulus. While she favors to strike from positions of strength, she has earned the respect of the Klingons by her ability to fight them toe to toe.
Chavaranek is an Epic command officer and the leader of the Romulan Patriots group.
Her stats are heavily weighted toward health. This makes her a great below decks officer if you’re running an officer on the bridge who’s ability depends on crew health, like Vemet, Yan’agh or Yuki Sulu.
Captain’s Ability
Romulan Tactitian – When the ship’s Hull Health goes under 70%, Charvanek has an 80% chance of Burning the opponent for 3 rounds.
Her burning ability would work well setting off D’Joaki’s Shatter Defenses Officer Ability – which decreases your opponent’s Armor, Sheild Deflection, and Dodge by a certain percentage of your crew’s health.
You could also try pairing her with some of the Nero crew on your Augur, and get an even greater chance of setting off the Obliterator bonus.
Officer Ability
Mind Games – At the start of combat, Charvanek increases the Armor Piercing of the ship by (100%, 200%, 400%, 800%, 1,600%) of the Health of the crew on the ship.
Her Officer Ability makes her team well with any anti-battleship crew you can throw together. She’d do well on your Saladin or your Gladius, for example. Pairing her with Mirek’s anti-Federation ability would make a good combo against Intrepids. She’d also be great to team with Tal if he’s ever offered again.
Getting Liviana Charvanek
You can get recruiting chards for her in Ultra Recruiting Packs and Premium Recruiting Packs. You can also use transporter patterns to acquire the shards.
Trivia
The Romulan Commander in “The Enterprise Incident,” as portrayed by Joanne Linville was never given a name in the episode. The name “Liviana Charvanek” comes from the Bantam novel The Fate of the Phoenix gives her name as Di’on Charvon, to which “Charvanek” is derived.
The character was supposed to return for the Next Generation episode, “Face of the Enemy,” where Deanna Troi goes undercover on a Romulan ship, but Linville was unavailable.
