When I first moved up to my new alliance, I kept seeing them talk about transporter patterns. I hated to admit that I had no idea what they were in the game. They weren’t showing up for me at all. Just about the time I finally asked what they were, they started showing up in the game for me.

What Are Transporter Patterns, and How Do You Get them?

If you’re a level 25 or below player, you probably won’t see these in the game. It’s not until you start maxing out your rare and epic officers that you’ll start to get transporter patterns, like the ones shown below. Let’s say you’ve got the max of 198 T’Pring shards on her highest level. Every time you recruit another T’Pring, you’ll get some transporter shards.

How do I use these newfangled Transporter Patterns?

Once you’ve gotten your first transporter patterns, you’ll see additional recruiting options show up in your recruiting menu. A list of all epic officers in the game will appear, and you’ll be able to choose which one of them you want to recruit. They cost 1000 patterns each. These patterns will count towards officer events. You can use the Khan patterns to gain points in Augment recruiting events, for example.

How to Use Faction Credits to “Farm” Transporter Patterns

If you’ve got one faction, where you’ve got a number of officers maxed, you can buy the recruit packs in the faction store, and get transporter patterns if any of the new officers are ones you’ve already maxed.

Of course, it could all go badly… (not really.)

Trivia

The whole concept of the transporter came from necessity on The Original Series. The cost of filming a landing sequence every time the Enterprise got to a new planet just wasn’t in the show’s budget. Also, the time of showing a landing would have taken away from the time needed for the story. (source, Memory Alpha.)

Completely Off-Topic

I know you’ve always wondered how the transporter effect was created… well, wonder no more!
