First of all, you’ll need to unlock the ability to enter Origin Space, where all the territories you can capture are located. You’ll need to complete an event to do that in the short term. However, after a few days, that requirement will be going away. This was added to prevent an early rush of players into the systems, and to prevent lag. But by the weekend, many alliances should be able to complete a Territory Capture.

Keep in mind that no alliance can control more than 5 territories at a time, so there will be opportunities for you.

Starting a Territory Capture

So first things first. You’re going to, as an alliance, need to pick out the territory you want to capture.

My alliance chose to try to capture the Adia system. Probably because of the PvP combat enhancer “service” that gives us a 25% bonus to base weapon damage when fighting against players. But I suspect that our admiral, SpeedRacer is also a closet Sarah McLaughlin fan. Keep in mind that you’ll need to start with a Tier 1 territory, and work your way up from there.

Then you’ll need to coordinate with your alliance on the time of the capture. Ours was at noon today, and we arrived, en masse to the two systems in Adia.

You’ll also need to make sure that you’ve got the Refined Isogen you need to take over the Territory.

Once your alliance leadership has unlocked the territory, you’ll need to capture it. And you’ll do this by getting as many ships to the system as you can. Try to get a “field of purple.” As you can see below, we accomplished that.

We were wondering if anyone other alliances would also try for the territory, but none did. We won in a walk. There was a little bug with getting the points to start counting, but after a short time, they did.

The Next Territory

Territory Capture is a little bit like chess. You need to consider not only your move, but your next move. So before you take your first territory, it will be advantageous to your alliance to start planning your second and third moves before you make your first. Don’t forget that you can only control five at a time, and they must be connected by warp paths.

You should also start thinking about which materials you’ll need to unlock that territory and start organizing your alliance towards collecting those.

Refining Grade-2 and Grade-3 Isogen is going to get you Progenitor Alloys. You’ll turn that stuff in for the various materials that you’ll need to unlock the higher tier territories.

Heads Up

If you’ve already completed your first Territory Capture, and you’re trying to complete the mission “Liquidation,” you could be in for some trouble.

Because if you’ve moved your station into your new Territory, well, there are no hostiles there at all. So it’d be a good idea to move out before you defeat the bounty hunter, then move back. There are players who have gotten here, and had to contact Customer Support. They have gotten resolution, but that can take some time.

Territory Capture Bug Warning & Workaround

Here’s a note of caution from my Admiral, the Sarah McLaughlin fan, “Be VERY careful when starting your takeover. It took us 15 minutes to get it fixed and we almost lost it. There’s a bug. Whoever is going to start it should not be looking in the Embassy while the timer to start it is counting down. If you are watching the timer and it gets to zero and you start it, it burps, and eats your inogen but does not accrue any points. Support fixed it while we doing the takeover and we wound up rejoined midway through the takeover. Best of luck guys!”

So rather than have to contact customer support, don’t have your Admiral looking at the Embassy when the timer starts.
