So I have a new favorite event. To be fair, it’s not the most fun event. I wrote about the specifics of going to level 39 last week, and while I had heard about the Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum event, I had no idea it would be this great. I mean really, this is an event that goes back a couple of months, back to Discovery Arc 1, but I paid very little attention to it, as it wasn’t an event I could do yet.

If you were looking for one more reason to make the leap to level 39, this is it.

In terms of actual rewards for effort, this is the best in the game. And it’s not close. And the rub is that this event can be won without winning a battle.

Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

Seriously. This is my battle log from the event. 50 points per point of damage done to level 49 Heavy Federation Transports. 1 point for regular level 49 Federation Transports.

You’d also get more points for using a G4 ship.

As luck would have it, my station was already in the Wolf system. So I just plunked PMC on my Augur, (more on crew later) and sent them to Sol, hit a Heavy Trader. Lose. Get a lot of points for the event.

Rinse. Repeat.

I had to do so just seven times, and it was all over. And as you can see below, the rewards are just stunning.

I mean good grief. In 18 minutes I got nearly enough 4* UC gas to unlock prime gas refining. At level 39, I can’t refine 4* uncommon gas at all. Plus, there’s no event that gives this much 3* uncommon gas.

And 17,500 in Latinum. If you’re scoring at home (or if you’re alone), that’s 25 days’ worth of Latinum refining (for me, with a tier 8 D’Vor.)

Event Number Two

So the second time around, for the purpose of experiment, I tried out my top PVP crew for my Augur: Yuki Sulu, Admiral Marcus, and Phillipa Georgiou.

Again, I went after the level 49 heavy transports. And instead of taking 7 hulls to get the job done, it took 3. I was getting over 40 million points per run.

So lesson learned. Treat the heavy transports like mission bosses.

Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

As I’m sure most STFC players already know, Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum is a Latin phrase roughly translated to, “If you want peace, prepare for war.”

And when I hear the translated phrase, I go right to Metallica, who sing the line in Don’t Tread on Me, off the Black Album.

Star Trek Discovery Episode of the Same Name

For those who don’t remember, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum was the eighth episode of season one of Star Trek: Discovery. It’s the one where the Discovery journeys to the planet Pahvo to try to figure out the Klingon’s cloaking technology.
