Good morning STFCers. Another patch is upon us. No new ship yet, but we’ve got a couple of new officers and a new game feature that could well help you get over some of those stumbling blocks that have been holding you back for a while.
Two New Officers
We’ve got two new officers this month, Counselor Troi and Lieutenant Worf. She’s an epic science officer who will help you with armadas and Romulans. He’s a rare command officer who will be helpful in fighting non-player enemies. Troi will be available via events.
You’ll also have some opportunities this month to get some of the previous TNG officer shards. You’ll also have an opportunity to get a special recruit chest, that you can open with a special currency for some of the newer mining officers: Makinen, DuPont, and some of the Borg mining officers.
Battle Pass and Events
We’ll also have a new battle pass, and some new events. Without getting too much into those new events right now, it’s a safe bet to assume that the new officers will tie into those events, and if you know Troi and Worf’s storylines, you might be able to guess their um… nemesis in that one or guess which enemy you have to face.
There are also some intriguing server-wide events coming up later in the month, that could well lead to alliances that have been enemies working together for a change.
Consumable Buff – Exocomps
First teased back in a roadmap back in March, we’ve got consumable buffs. They’re temporary galaxy, station, and combat bonuses.
You’ll have a new building, the “Exocomp Factory,” a new store, the “Consumables Store,” and two new tokens that I’m not going to put in needless quotation marks, the Axionic Chip and Axionic Servo.
The buffs will be temporary and based on grade and rarity.
As you might remember, the Exocomps come from TNG episode, Quality of Life. That’s the one where Data suspects that a group of robots is alive.
The next Trek appearance of the Exocomps came on Lower Decks, a show which really grew on me as its first season went on. I’m really hoping that at some point, we get a “Peanut Hamper” reference in STFC.
The Exocomp Factory
You’ll be able to build the Exocomp Factor at ops level 16. All players level 16 or above will get a special pack in the first few days after launch that will let them construct the building. This delay will make sure you don’t build the building before any event-specific points are available from constructing it.
As you upgrade the building, you’ll get additional consumable buff slots. You’ll start with one Galaxy slot. At level 5, you’ll get a station slot. Level 15 gives you a combat slot. Level 25 lets you activate grade 3 buffs (they all start out at grade two for some reason.) Level 35 gives you another multipurpose slot that you can use for galaxy, station, or combat, and level 40 lets you activate grade 4 buffs.
The building is upgraded using the new Axionic Servos (which to me sounds like a metal band fronted from MST3K. But I digress.)
Activating the Buffs
The Exocomp consumables will be available by tapping on the new HUD icon, that you’ll find on the lower right section of your screen, next to your shield timer. You can also find them in the inventory tab.
Once you’ve clicked on that, you’ll get a popup showing you your consumable slots, and the time remaining on each. You’ll click a green “add” button to
You’ll be able to end your buffs early, if you so choose, to add another buff.
Acquiring the Buffs
You’ll get these new buffs in the Consumables Store, which you can access either with the other stores or by clicking on the Excomp factory.
You’ll purchase the buffs with Axionic Chips (which will go well with Axionic Salsa.) You’ll get the chips by participating in events, completing Away Teams assignments, or from the Battle Pass. And obviously, they’ll be available for purchase.
The grade of the consumables, which can be common, uncommon, or rare, will depend solely on the level of your Exocomp Factory.
And finally, the Buffs Themselves…
