Star Trek: Discovery’s version of Robocop, Airiam was injured in an accident, and augmented with technology. In Star Trek Fleet Command, she’s an uncommon command officer in the Star Trek Discovery Crew.

Captain’s Maneuver

Airiam increases the mining speed of Isogen by 40%.

Isogen is the new material that you’ll need in Territory Capture to unlock your attempts to capture a zone. As with any of the mining officers, synergy will be the key. And you’re going to want to combine Ten of Ten if you have him (her? it? Itt?)

Officer Ability

When defending a Capture Node, at the start of each round, Airiam has a 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 95% chance of Burning the opponent for this round.

So with another Discovery update, we get another Burning officer. Great for your Augur, and with any of the other officers who benefit from burning. Think Nero, Kumak, Vemet, or D’Jaoki.

Airiam Trivia

Of all the regulars in any Star Trek television series, Airiam has the distinction of being the only one played by two different performers on the same series. (With the exception of different versions of the character, like young Picard in Rascals.)

Sarah Mitich (left) and Hannah Cheesman (right) were the two actresses to portray Airiam. (TrekMovie.com photo)

And even more rare, both the original actress, Sarah Mitich, wasn’t fired and didn’t even leave the show. Hannah Cheesman stepped into the role. Mitich just took off the prosthetics and makeup and started playing another character – Nilsson.

Not this Nilsson.

But rather, this Nilsson. Ironically enough, Nilsson was the officer who replaced Airiam at her bridge station.

Sarah Mitich is a Canadian actress with a background in ballet and did most of her pre-Star Trek work on Canadian television. And she’s a dead ringer for Helen Slater (from the 80s, and movies like Supergirl, The Secret of My Success, and Ruthless People.) So there’s that.

Hannah Cheesman is likewise, a Canadian actress. She’s done most of her work in independent films.
