Spock’s foster sister, mutineer of Michael Burnham has come to Star Trek Fleet Command as an epic science officer in the Discovery crew.
Captain’s Manuever
Steadfast: Increase impulse speed by 15%
This isn’t quite as quick as Klaa or Pan, but it’s still quite useful. This could be especially useful for players whose primary ship is a battleship, like an Augur, that tend to be more powerful, but much slower than they’re opponents.
Officer Ability
Intuitive: when getting hit, reduce opponent’s shields by (30%, 55%, 85%, 300%, 450%) of attack in PvP.
Imagine pairing your epic Burnham with Yuki Sulu and Admiral Marcus when going against an Explorer. Especially if you were to max her out to that 450% number, which is reliant on the attack stats of your officers.
You’re going to be cutting your opponents to shreds, with no shields at all. I can wait to test this out on, say, an Augur going against an Enterprise or an ISS Jellyfish.
You can also pair her with Saru‘s damage reduction when fighting players. I may be more excited by this combo than I am by the ship that can cross the galaxy instantly.
Sonequa Martin-Green Background
You can find the full character background of Michael Burnham on the Cadet Burnham profile.
Sonequa Martin was born in Russellville, Alabama in 1985. The other big contributor to entertainment from Russellville was Gustav Hasford, who wrote the short story that was the basis for Full Metal Jacket.
She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2007 with a degree in Theatre. She made her television debut in a 2008 episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent (which if you’ll remember, starred Vincent D’Onfrio, who was Private Pyle in Full Metal Jacket, and the circle is complete.)
Her first recurring TV role was on Army Wives. Next, she made her film debut in 2009’s Toe to Toe.
Later she had a recurring role on The Good Wife, before coming to prominence on The Walking Dead.
She’s married to Kenric Green, who played Michael Burnham’s father on Discovery.
And she’s also a spokesperson for Stand Up to Cancer. Her mother is a three-time cancer survivor, and her sister is battling breast cancer.
