The event store for Outlaws III is open for business. But what should you buy? What’s a good deal, and what isn’t? How should you decide?

Here’s the price list. You may not see all of these, due to your level and faction status.

Event Store Strategy

When making your selections, it’s important not to rush into anything. You want to get things that you won’t be able to get again. You want to get things that will make an impact for you. It’s also really useful to plan out your strategy.

Unlike previous Event Stores, this one doesn’t have anything that jumps off the screen at you, like you have to buy it. This makes this more player-specific than any previous event store.

High Priority Items

Probably the most valuable item in this draw are the officer badges. They’re 75k per, but any time you can get badges without shelling out actual money, it’s a good idea to do so.

Next, if you didn’t get Mudd from Outlaws II, but you’re close, he’d be one to focus on in the event store. Of course, now that Scopely has started releasing officers like from previous events into the everyday recruiting packs, I think this takes some of the urgency out of it.

He’s good, but it’s not like he’s Harrison. So I’d take that into account.

If you don’t have a Franklin or a D’Vor, this would be a really good chance to either get one or get closer to one. If you can pick up a second D’Vor, I think that’s a good deal too. Very useful in swapping out on raw Latinum nodes, and in the Latinum Rush event. A second Franklin seems like a bit of a waste.

I have a second Franklin, but I earned it during the second “Threat From Beyond” event last year. And to be honest, I never use it. It’s tempting to tier it up for points in a Hostile Hunt or a Crucible of War event… but I’m low on 2-star explorer parts, and I can’t justify spending Latinum just to finish an event that I can get from blowing up a few hostiles.

If you don’t have a Stella, you should absolutely spend the loot to get one. It’s going to open up a lot of research for you going forward. I mean, it’s possible that Scopely could add another chance to get one in the future like they’ve done with some of the other specialty shops, and even add an event around them, but even if they do, I think you’ll want to have one now.

What About a Second Stella?

I’ve seen a number of people who already say that they’ve picked up a second Stella, and I can see the reasoning behind this. It’s not terrifically expensive, only 76k in Heist Loot, and they’ll be able to use it while their other Stella is in the scrapyard.

I don’t think I’m going to be doing this, as the Stella scrap times aren’t that significant – it’s usually only around a day. And since this isn’t going to get you any additional uranium, I don’t see this as being a great deal. I think I’d rather have the Officer Badge.

Middle Priority Event Store Items

Normally, I’d say the officers would be a high priority, but you can already get in packs, I’d say hold off on these for a while. Then, depending on where you wind up with Ahvix, Ro Mudd, or Eurydice, I’d suggest using some of your Loot to get them or promote them, depending on how many of them you’ve gotten thus far.

After that, I’d look at faction ships. I know, they’re the flashiest thing out there, and I’m going to have to seriously consider getting some Enterprise blueprints here. (As of this writing, I’m just 31 blueprints away.)

As of right now, my Blueprint Calculator tells me that my Enterprise is due on September 15th. I may find myself really tempted to try to push that up a few days.

Independent credits are extremely valuable, especially if you’re close to promoting an officer like Khan, or some of the Borg or Rogue officers.

Also, depending on where you are, any of the Faction Mining Ships is a good deal. Having one from each faction makes the game much, much easier.

If you’re a lower level player (under level 28,) and you’re close to getting one of the Hijacked ships, those blueprints are a pretty good deal, especially if it’s a ship of a type not available to you. (Legionary for Fed players who can’t get a battleship until the Intrepid, D3 for Romulans lacking an interceptor, or Mayflower for the Klingons sans explorer.)

Filler

If you’re old enough to remember when Wheel of Fortune used to have contestants stop and buy prizes between each round, and then put the money they couldn’t spend on a gift certificate to Service Merchandise. It’s kinda like that. You’re going to be left with some Loot left over, and you’ll need to spend it on something.

I’m really close to tiering up my D’Vor, so I may look at some D’Vor parts here.

You can never have enough 3-star materials, so that’s a place to spend some of your leftovers.

If you’re working on your Franklin, you could put some Loot into Frequency Modulators, but this is as an absolute last resort. I never like to spend event credits (loot) on something you can simply grind out from hostiles in the game.

I know of a higher-level player who’s going to spend some of his loot on resources, but I can’t see myself doing that, ever. But he’s looking to make level 40 upgrades to his base, and those cost billions.

I can’t see spending a lot of loot on the common or uncommon Rogue officers like Sesha, Tiza, or Goon, but if you’re close to promoting them, and you’ve got everything else you can, I guess it’s something to consider. I mean, they’re available in the Rogue Faction Store, so it’s the lowest possible priority.

(Or if your alliance is in the race for 5th in the Gauntlet event, you might want to pick up a few quick shards to score points right now.)

I’d Avoid

I can’t rationalize spending loot on 3-star ship parts. You get these from dailies, and hunting hostiles on a regular basis, so unless you’re really desperate, I’d spend your loot elsewhere.

Under No Circumstances

Navi, Pan and Rima are good officers – but they’re available in the Augment faction store, so they’d be a waste here.

Avatars. 150,000 Heist Loot for an avatar is nuts. It’s like playing the Press Your Luck and hoping to get a Whammy.
