Thank you to everyone who participated in this month’s contest.
Here are your answers, and the winners are announced down below.
1. The character of Jaylah draws her name from:
As covered (fittingly) in my article on Jaylah, the character of Jaylah was inspired by actress Jennifer Lawrence in the 2010 film, Winter’s Bone. A movie that, I’ll admit, before writing this article, I’d never heard of.
2. Two of Ten served on the Romulan mining ship Lhonu before he was assimilated. What does Lhonu mean in Romulan?
Coming up with Trivia for a Two of Ten, who’s never appeared on screen, a single paragraph in-game background wasn’t easy, or particularly fun. So I reached at straws and found that Lhonu meant silver in Romulan. I’m 100% sure this information will never be useful to anyone at all. Ever. Meanwhile, still no Horta in STFC.
Maybe I could start a petition?
Anyway, in Romulan, Lhonu means silver.
3. Jaylah actress Sofia Boutella attended which Boston, Massachusetts college?
From the article on Five of Ten, the answer is Berklee College of Music. It’s right there at the corner of Boylston and Mass Ave in Boston, and about a 10-minute walk from Fenway Park.
Tip one out to my favorite burger place in the world, the Pour House Boston which was across the street from Berklee, which closed last year. Lots of good times there with friends.
I never did see Jaylah there, though.
4. At its top level, what’s the damage bonus of the Franklin-A against swarms?
This is a hat-tip to our friends over at LCARS, the top damage for your Franklin-A will be 500,000%.
5. This month we get a new refit for the Stella. But going back to the original name, which Stella was the ship named for?
From back in the Stella article, it’s Harry Mudd’s estranged wife Stella. I wanted to find an photo of actress Kay Elliot when she was younger… and I couldn’t find one. Elliott’s first onscreen role was the same year as her appearance on Star Trek in 1967. She acted for another 12 years before retiring, and her last role came in the 1979 bomb, Gas Pump Girls.
6. Jaylah’s planet in Star Trek: Beyond was?
It’s Altamid. Curiously strong.
7. Jaylah’s Officer Ability, “I have the beat and shouting” refers to her playing a song by which band?
If you can think of a more ridiculous thing in all of Star Trek than the Deus ex Rockina from Star Trek Beyond, let me know, because, off the top of my head, I’ve got nothing. On the other hand, having a song that I think was played at every college party I ever went to turn up.
Of course, the answer here is Sabotage by the Beastie Boys.
It brings me great joy that two people guessed Perry Como. Gives me an excuse to share one of my favorite SCTV bits about, “Mr. Relaxation,” whose music would never include beats, or shouting. This one never gets old.
8. What does it cost to launch a “Swarm Horde” armada?
It’s 100 rare armada directives. Make of that what you will.
9. Throwback 1: Kang actor Michael Ansara was married to which 60s sitcom actress?
Going back to the Kang article, Ansara was of course married to the great Barbara Eden.
10. Throwback 2: Stonn actor Lawrence Montaigne also played this other STFC officer on Star Trek.
